Things to Do

Stargazing and Star Parties

The night skies in North Norfolk are reknowned for their clarity.  Just four miles from Picaroons, Kelling Heath is situated in the heart of the rural North Norfolk countryside, well away from any intrusive lighting.  It is reknowned as one of the darkest sites in the country with an unrivalled view of the night sky.  As well as marvelling at the Milky Way we can see crystal clear views of other planetary neighbours which we probably haven't been able to discern elsewhere.

Because of this the Norwich Astronomical Society organise twice yearly star parties at Kelling Heath, attended by hundreds of astronomers from all over the country.  The autumn event is thought to be the largest star party in Europe.

Star Parties in 2017

The Spring Star party is 19th to 26th April

The Autumn Star party is from 20th to 24th September
